Racial Justice Team

“Racism is the opposite of what God intends for humanity. It is the rejection of the other, which is entirely contrary to the Word of God incarnate in Jesus Christ. Racism is a lie about our fellow human beings, for it says that some are less than others. Because of our biblical understanding of who God is and what God intends for humanity, the PC(USA) must stand against, speak against and work against racism.”
PC(USA) Statement

What is the Racial Justice Partnership?

In 2021 a 3-year Legacy Grant was awarded to HRP Green and The Presbytery Committee on Representation to fund training to help dismantle systemic racism and embody environmental justice for Hudson River Presbytery clergy and leaders. The overall goal is to live by the PC(USA) statement on racism, provide anti-racism and environmental justice training to presbytery leaders, and to develop a network of anti-racist leaders to inspire action throughout the Presbytery. In 2022 the Racial Justice Partnership was formed with the intention of engaging the Hudson River Presbytery for the long term in an attempt to create equality for all.

The Racial Justice Partnership of the Hudson River Presbytery has Legacy Grant funds available to your congregation to help pay for actions to promote diversity and end systemic racism. Ten $300 scholarships per year will be available for an honorarium or other costs associated with Racial Justice Actions. For more information contact Edgar Hayes nonviolentpeace.1@gmail.com.
