Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church
New York, NY 10021
POSITION TITLE: Director of Children and Adult Education Ministries
PLACE: Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, 921 Madison Avenue New York, NY 10021
PHONE: (212) 288-8920

The Director of Children and Adult Education Ministries (DCAEM) at Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church (MAPC) will oversee the education and discipleship ministries for people of all ages. The DCAEM will work with the Session through members of the Christian Education Committee, pastoral staff, program coordinators and teachers to see that educational and discipleship ministries equip and inspire disciples of Jesus Christ in faith, leadership and service through the use of scripture, Reformed tradition and the church's various ministries. This includes program development, administration and coordination, teacher and leader recruitment, training, support, ongoing curriculum selection/development, teaching, worship leadership and preaching responsibilities, with special emphasis upon youth ministry.

The mission of MAPC is to bring people into the transforming presence of Jesus Christ through worship, teaching the Word, Christian nurture, and ministry in and to the world. As Christ's ministers, our members are striving to build a community of God's love, justice and mercy, trusting God to lead us into faithfulness.

The DCAEM reports to and is supervised by the Pastor as Head of Staff, and is accountable to the Session of the Church. MAPC prepares to welcome a new Head of Staff for only the fourth time in 110 years. The search for a new pastor has provided unique opportunities for our congregation to examine itself and study anew God's call to service.
